Astrid Mullix

Senior at the University of South Florida
My name is Astrid. Being raised in a Hispanic home has shaped me into the person I am today. Both my parents were born in Dominican Republic, and thankfully, they brought its incredible culture into my life. When I’m not working, you’ll most likely find me eating, listening to music, singing, or sharing quality time with the people I love. My favorite Dominican dish is Mangu, but if you ask me what my favorite food is, I’ll say donuts. I consider my taste in music to be diverse. Depending on my mood, I rotate from R&B, Jazz, and a variety of Hispanic music.
I am an Integrated Public Relations and Advertising major in search of my career calling. I work at a marketing and design agency called energyhill, where I am currently a project manager. I started out as a copywriter for the company, then moved into ad operations, and now, I am happily engaged in project management. My responsibilities include effectively communicating between clients and team members, capturing initial project scope boundaries, organizing project schedules, and keeping track of the timing, handoffs, and client approvals of all deliverables.
My love for communication didn’t start until I was in middle school. What makes communication so fascinating is that it gives us the ability to share, influence, and be authentic. We are all born with gifts, talents, and unique abilities. Communication is a door to self expression and power. We can change the world when we take advantage of it. Throughout my blog, I am looking forward to sharing ideas and perspectives on different topics as authentically as possible.
